Nadal Out of French Open and I Missed It All…

Wow, really shocked to see Nadal losing to Robin Soderling when I finally got my power back tonight. We had a power out all day and I sat in darkness for six hours for nothing to do, only to learn I’ve missed one of the upsets of the century! Hopefully, I can move out of South Africa soon. So obviously since I couldn’t watch the match I have nothing much to report, only that now there is a huge opportunity for Roger to complete the career grand slam and tie Sampras’ record. This also means that he can win a slam that Sampras never won, making him the greatest of the modern era if not the greatest of all time. So as you can see there is a lot to play for. I now have full confidence that Roger will get the job done.

When this tournament started the only person who could beat Roger in my mind was Rafa, so this is truly an awesome opportunity. I thought all along Rafa looked vulnerable but after his match against Hewitt I was worried that he is back to his best again, making him an unstoppable force. I thought if Rafa lost it would be in the final to Roger! Let me just say congratulations to Soderling, he does this after only winning one game against Rafa in Rome. He must have played a very gutsy match. This guy was playing challengers a while ago. Amazing stuff! I really hope I will get to see this match but for now the only option I have is to ask you what happened. Instead of me doing the post as usual I will give you the opportunity to inform me. Besides I am still too upset, I am not in a state to write.

Over to you…

Ps. Ines you were right again! :D

  1. Roger is now under tremendous pressure, wish him well in tomorrow’s match against Haas, it is one match at a time. He needs to stay focused, mentally strong. We are with you, Roger.

Yeah, now the spotlight is suddenly on Roger. I hope he stay low and a level head. Don’t get too ahead of himself, I think he will do well against Haas.

  2. Soderling played a solid offensive game – he was not afraid to attack Nadal’s forehand. He was hitting hard and heavy in most rallies, not to mentioned he manage to keep Nadal on the run. Bottomline, he was the aggressor which I believe is perhaps key to beating Nadal. Other players can learn from Soderling on this. He was not afraid of Nadal and he mixed up his game well. Soderling kept his focus and best part he has the crowd behind him. Nadal mentioned in his interview that the crowd was against him. Not sure in what context he meant but it should not bother him since he is known for his mental toughness. I will wait see what excuses ‘experts’ give on Nadal premature exit. Too much tennis, injury bla bla bla. So who will the ‘experts’ pick as FO Champion now.

Lol well said. I knew the French would rally behind anyone who starts beating Rafa. They hate him! I think more and more people will figure Rafa out now. And the experts were saying that Rafa will become the GOAT and win the calender GS hahaha. Andre Agassi said Roger is not the GOAT cos he cant beat his main rivals yet he also said Rafa will win the calender GS this year. Whatever Andre! Why dont you look at how solid Roger has been and stop worshipping Rafa! Rafa wont even come close to what Roger has achieved, he is almost burned out now!

  3. Thanks Ru-an, i said it earlier that Nadal will not reach the final i felt it and some other people felt it too.He was so under pressure going for his 5°run on FO. He´s gotten his taste of his own medicine.Stopped Roger and Soderling stopped him.Such a feeling Soderling playing really well and the crowd against Nadal…Now they should all believe that Nadal is beatable, will start beating him.(as it happened with Roger). Now he feels exactly what Roger felt last year having lost in his favourite surface and in Australia too.Without Nadal things get tougher psicologically! And we can only hope that Roger wins it at all. He needs our support now more than ever.

Well you are kind of a celebrity on this blog by now :D I dont think many people thought Rafa would not win the tournament, let alone lose to Soderling. At least i saw that he was vulnerable, but when you said he could lose before the final i took note! Im confident Roger will get the job done. He is playing well and his draw looks good. Ive had a feeling sice the start this could be Rogers year…

  4. hi ru-an, hope you alredy watch the match.
Before i use to believe Nadal play too much tennis but he still manage to beat Roger. This year, i kept my believe and think this is the year for Roger. I predited Nadal not even make into the final, maybe Davydenko can take him out……or if he still can make it, then Roger will beat him. So now i am very sure Roger will do it and show to the world that to be a great champion you need everything.
